Story

This is the Gabriella, also known as the Kimchi Bowl and also known as the Wavy Candle. This was a really cool project. I designed this object together with the help of the girls from Sister*hood Vienna, as a collaboration with ÖHTB – a craft workshop for the impaired – as a socially conscious product. The shape is inspired by a typical elephant-grass basket made in Ghana. 

This design I drew using 3D-software and 3D printed it in order to make the plaster mold to create this pretty bowl. After our collaboration, I got the chance to meet the boys from Halmi, a Korean restaurant in Vienna’s 8th district, they saw this bowl and really wanted to use them in their restaurant as kimchi bowls, they loved the fact that these stacked so beautifully. We talked about a few changes – the height & the glaze, and before you knew it Gabriella was born! Halmi was featured in an article by Gault & Millau. And a picture of the Gabriella bowls is in full shot as the Cover Image! *fangirling here*

Also a few months later a cool creative Babs, made a cookbook and used Gabriella to showcase one of her recipes! So so happy with all the journey this simple item has gone through!

Care

• This item is dishwasher & microwave-safe, however, washing it by hand is always better for its longevity.
• This item is watertight.
• If by any reason your item falls and breaks (it happens !) send me a picture and send me the broken pieces back. I’ll replace your product for a 15% discount. I’m currently working at a 100% recycled porcelain body so that the pieces don’t go into the landfill. And eventually, become a cool art piece!
